Western’s strategic plan and campaign, Vision for Excellence, has brought new life, inspiration, and a desire to serve our students better. The intent of Western’s strategic plan focused on bridging the great heritage of the past and a vision for the future needs of students. The comprehensive plan addressed goals for academic excellence, student life, organizational improvements and the development of a long-term campus plan.

It was clear that to prepare all students academically and spiritually for their unique service to God and others, it required Western to stretch its program in all areas. This took an investment in facilities, technology, people, and program to fulfill the mission we felt called to.

With the planning, input, and expertise of a community of people, the Vision for Excellence strategic plan took shape. The resulting plan and campaign was the biggest effort and largest fundraising goal Western has ever taken on. The goals seemed like a towering mountain that we needed to climb, but because of our sense of God’s leading, we took the challenge.
