Benefit Concert Supports MSC Festival

On Saturday, March 17, the Western Mennonite School A cappella Choir performed its 10th Annual Benefit Concert. Held in the school chapel, the event supported the choir’s upcoming trip to Ohio for the Mennonite Schools Council’s 50th choral music celebration.

Students involved in the choir sang a variety of selections, from jazz and contemporary to classical and spiritual pieces. Director Joel Hergert also included solo performances from choir members, as well as songs performed by the school’s elite group, Western Singers.

During each of the two separate concerts, an offering was taken that would go toward their trip. Ticket proceeds also went toward the event. By the end of the evening, the Benefit Concert had raised $4,000, making the choir overjoyed. Students were so happy to be a part of not only creating music to glorify God, but to witness the community support around them. As the concert ended, the students were greeted with hugs and smiles from their parents, grandparents, and teachers. Alumni attending the event expressed their thanks for the music, and made everyone made their way into the administration building for the reception.

A big thank you goes out to the parent volunteers who worked hard to decorate, prepare food, and coordinate the event.
