Harassment Complaint Forms

Western Mennonite School is committed to maintaining a school environment in which all individuals treat each other with respect and dignity, and one that is free from all forms of intimidation, exploitation and harassment. Students who feel they have observed or been subjected to such treatment are to inform their parents and immediately report the matter to one of the school officials designated below.

A formal or informal complaint can be filled out describing what happened and what the desired resolution would be.

a)    The informal process—will work toward reconciliation between the complainant and the accused with appropriate accountability for abusive behavior. The focus will be on how to avoid future occurrences. Control for the future will lie with the two parties directly involved. No disciplinary actions will be taken.

b)    The formal process—will be to determine what happened in the past and to seek a just resolution for the complainant. An investigation will be made through interviews with a variety of persons who may be able to substantiate or dispute the claim. While the matter will be treated discreetly, complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of an investigation.

The full harassment policy and procedures document can be found within the Student/Parent Handbook (link to handbook) and requested from the assistant principal and guidance counselor.

The principal, assistant principal and guidance counselor are specifically authorized to receive complaints and respond to questions regarding harassment of any nature. All complaints will be promptly investigated
